The beach is composed of zillions of fish bones.
Dead fish deposited at the high water line. The smell was unmistakable, yet people were camped by the water's edge and were boating and swimming in the hypersaline water.

Not a very appealing place to swim, yet people evidently like swimming in the hypersaline water.

All the speckles in the water are bubbles trapped beneath the surface, I presume because the hypersaline water is dense enough to trap them from rising to the surface film. It makes the top layer seem gelatinous.
This palm was growing all by itself on the fish bone beach.
