Cutting strips to size on the table saw.

I broke down the 8/4 boards with a heavy duty carbide blade, but used a small, thin 7 inch blade to rip 3/16 x 3/4.strips. I still think I sucked up half of each board with the sawdust collection. The long face of each strip is quarter sawn-- the flat sawn grain is the gluing surface for adjacent strips.

I can't believe I didn't take more photos of the strips being milled, but it was cold, muddy, and dusty despite the constantly running shop vac all winter long. I just ground through all the wood, one strip at a time.
